Yes, when i last tried (october 2009), and 64bit flash was unstable as hell.

But you can use 32 bit flash on 64 bit Ubuntu (using nspluginwrapper)! Just

apt-get install flashplugin-installer

This will take care of everything (install 32 bit flash +
nspluginwrapper). I have this setup here, it works really well.

Using nspluginwrapper, firefox is actually more stable than without, as
flash will run in a seperate nspluginwrapper process and won't take
firefox down when it crashes.
