I have a problem with ltsp-update-image not starting ltsp-update-kernels

I have spotted that in the function assign_ports, the variable
PORTS_FOUND is set to "--"
a few lines later this variable is matched to a *-${NBD_PORT}-* (the
NBD_PORT contains the value from
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/ltsp/update-kernels.conf - usually 2000)

This of course never match, but if it does the function sets RUN_LUK=1
witch later is used to check if ltsp-update-kernels needs to be started.
This never happens.

Can someone explain to me why PORTS_FOUND is set to "--" and when does
it match?
