Ouch, that sounds painful... 1. Try different PCs/controllers 2. Change the controller mode for the drive back and forth between SATA (AHCI) and IDE (and check if the BIOS sees the drive) 3. Freezer trick, where you let the drive cool inside and run it inside a freezer while you attempt recovery (though this really only addresses Click of Death or other physical or mechanical problems) 4. Use the diagnostics from the manufacturer (also on the Ultimate Boot CD) to see if it comes up clean 5. Reflash the firmware for the drive if it's possible 6. Swap the disk logic board from an identical drive
