LDM_XSESSION should *not* be abused this way- it will result in sessions that 
kind of work, but are broken in difficult to troubleshoot ways because the 
proper hooks in /etc/Xsession.d/* will not be executed.

I think the proper fix to use LDM_SESSION should be working it's way into 
Ubuntu, if it hasn't already?
