Hello,

I have been using LTSP (4.2) for many years and have been more than happy
with it. We are about to launch a product with ltsp at its core, so I
thought I had better update our hardware, operating system and ltsp to the
latest versions.

I have purchased an HP Proliant Microserver (64 bit) and have installed
Centos 6 with LTSP 5. I have installed LTSP using the ltsp repo. After doing
the ltsp-build-client, I have plugged one of our HP T5700 thin clients into
the machine, but it says that the kernel will not run on the thin client,
because the processor in the thin client does not support PAE. This is the
first problem, 50% of our thin clients are this type of unit. So my first
question would be; can I build the client without pae support. I have tried
compiling my own kernel and a new initial ram disk. However, the device
boots but stops after it has detected the mouse and keyboard.

I have another thin client, an HP5720, which does boot, but fails with a
series of 10 segmentation faults when trying to run the X server. If I add
XSERVER= "vesa" to the lts.conf file, then it will boot to the ldm login
screen, however, the hal daemon fails during boot up, so the keyboard is not
detected and I can't type the username, but strangely, the enter key will
crash the screen and display a few random characters at the top of the
screen, then displays the login screen again.

Has anyone successfully got LTSP 5 to work with Centos 6 and HP thin
clients. I have been at this for days now and I'm not seeing a light at the
end of the tunnel.

Many thanks,

Graham.

Regards,

Graham Harvey
