If you are using a lot of local apps though, the performance difference will not be noticeable, in which case I would most definitely choose the more reliable option. What clients will you be using? If you are using local apps or even fat clients, the serer will hardly be loaded at all. How many clients? In terms of performance, the number of threads seem to be the most indicative of how well a server will perform for a lot of thin clients. I don't think there's many benchmarks will give you a good reflection of how LTSP will be on a given system.
