https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KIWI-LTSP_tips_and_tricks#Changing_LDM_theme shows how you can replace default LDM background. There is no template directory for LDM, you can replace any file inside the chroot image as per the link above. The same link also provides two ways(ssh and debug terminal) to log in to the client and see what is inside that image.
