What's the output of the same command there? > ldap_user@client$ /usr/bin/getent passwd $(/usr/bin/id -u) it's impossible to login to the fat client using "xterm session"; I tried to create a new LDAP user with short and simple username: again login refused to the fat client (but homedir has been automatically created by pam on the /home tree on the ltsp server). So I have to think that the long dotted username isn't the problem.
