I think this is the kind of thing that the configure script is there
to detect. You may want to contact Reuben Thomas about it.

Please give the attached rockspec a try. I had no problems with the
Lua include dir, but let me know if you need to add "$(LUA_INCDIR)" in
there somewhere.
