I've been using a CompUSA brand usb keychain flash drive for a while
now. It's just a 128 MB one, and USB 1.1 compatible but it's worked
just fine for me.
If I were going to buy one today the most important things I would look
for a USB 2.0 compatibility, 256 MB or more of flash storage space, and
a casing that looks good. If you have those elements together it's
hard to go wrong. I really do keep mine on my keychain. Size and
portability are important because if you don't take it with you every
where, it won't be long before you find yourself missing it.
The SanDisk 256 MB USB 2.0 Flash Memory Drive looks great. just $59.88

Notice how the cap fits on the top of the drive, that's a better design
than the CompUSA drive I've got. Mine doesn't have a place to put that
cap, not a huge deal, but I'm worried I might loose it someday.

I'm looking to purchase a thumb drive at least 256MB or perhaps 512MB.
I
want something rugged and that will last because I'll probably use it
everyday. I have seen a few of them fall apart, like the case cracks or
totally falls off.
I've also considered getting a laptop HD and mounting it into a usb or
firewire case. I've seen a few of them. Light weight and very
portable.
Any suggestions? What is your experience with thumb drives? What
works for
you?
Thanks in advance.
