The first project is building a mythtv box. Mythtv is an open source Tivo - http://www.mythtv.org/ If we get some hardcore folks we can try to build it from scratch. If not, there is a Knoppix version (boot from the CD, loads
everything) http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html

I am thinking about Saturday the 25th at about 4PM at my place in Nuuanu.
We can test with my cable tv.

Awesome Matt. Count me in.

I will have all the parts I need. I will have two different video capture
cards...hopefully we can make both work simultaneously.

If you want to build one for yourself at the same time, bring your gear. I have a 4.6Mb DSL at my house & I will open the WiFi if people just want to
hang out.

I'll see if I can frankenstein something together so I can build along.

People can bring beer - I have lots of Vodka, Rum, & Tequila. If people are so inclined we can chip in ($5 or something) and get some pizza or subs. I
live within one block of Subway, Dominos & Papa Johns.

Pizza sounds good.

Let me know if you are interested in participating.

Future projects I would like to build -
OS fax server using a regular modem -> hylafax
personal email server w/ webmail, spam filter, anti virus etc.
firewall with inbound VPN capability
ability to scan a document, enter an email address and have the document
sent as a pdf to the email address
put OSX on a normal intel box
microsoft exchange replacement
asterisk server for people's house

Great ideas. I could really use a fax server, can we make that the next project?

Let me add to that a mousebot made from an old ball mouse. It's look like it could be done in a few hours. It seems like most of the parts can be found at Honolulu Electronics or Radio Shack.
