Hello everyone,
A while ago there was this article on OMG! UBUNTU!:
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/06/germany-to-hand-out-free-ubuntu-cds-on-xps-deat
It's about that the council of the german city Munich was planning to
send Lubuntu CD's to citizens to save them from the EOL of Microsoft
Windows XP. Would be amazing.
Now, I saw this article on the dutch IT news site Webwereld:
http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=nl&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwebwereld.nl%2Fit-beheer%2F79193-munchen-geeft-gratis-linux-cd-s-aan-xp-gebruikers&act=url
(Article is in Dutch so it is a Google Translate link. Beware, Google
Translate is not very good at Dutch<->English so the translation can
contain errors.).
It is about that Munich is now shipping Ubuntu 12.04 CD's to citizens!
I really hope the writer of that article has made a mistake as it's a
huge problem if they are indeed shipping Ubuntu 12.04 CD's. Not to bash
Ubuntu, but Ubuntu is not designed for such old computers at all, and it
runs absolutely terrible on those machines. Will probably not help those
people at all and will be very bad advertisement for Ubuntu. It should
have been Lubuntu.
Absolutely great initiative of them, but if it is true they chose
Ubuntu, they f***ed it up...
What do you think?
