Problem #1: it's entirely non-standard. I could maybe live with that, but it needs to successfully be able to walk a total noob through the process and needs to be able to be distributed entirely by CD and it needs to be able to install without the Internet. I think debian-installer and ubiquity successfully do all of these. Problems we have with debian-installer usually revolve around the fact that no one in the Ubuntu camp really maintains it for the purposes of installing X. This gets back to the non-standard issue. The only problem with ubiquity is its problems with memory. I believe we can fix that— in a Lubuntu sort of way— through limiting the glitz and user interface. What we need is some development help!
