Hello Rafael,
Yes, that proof of concept was shown on Ubuntu for Android, and Canonical had
released other similar projects which are missing that functionality.

In past time I had functional Lubuntu desktop on HTC Rhodium using Rhobuntu
project. So, I will be lucky if there will be something like that, supported on
modern hardware.

Peter.

You're talking about the Ubuntu for Android, it's a different project (almost
abandoned) using a phone base connected via HDMI cable to a screen and using
its ROM as a Desktop distro. That's not going to happen.
But Ubuntu Touch will is already able to run some Software Center apps made for
desktop, so the convergence has begun. Right now, Ubuntu Touch can run on
Phones, Tablets, Phablets and other touch-driven devices.Unity8 is the next
desktop that will unify everything. So in some way, that old project Ubuntu for
Anrdoid is being a reality with Ubuntu Touch. But we have to wait a little for
that. If you have your Ubuntu phone, just keep updated with the OTAs and you'll
receive more and more features, including these ones.

Hello Rafaell, Hello All.
Will be supported switch to desktop mode on Ubuntu Mobile when HDMI or MHL
cable will be conected to external display as was shown some years ago?

This can follow mobile desktops as opossite to notebooks or hybrid tablets. One
device, many fuctions.

Thanks,
Peter.

Hello, steven.
Yes, there're a few models supporting Ubuntu Touch now, but the list is growing.
Here's a compatibility device list:https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices>Also consider the Meize MX and BQ Ubuntu
Edition models that comes with flashed Ubuntu ROMs so you don't have to do it.

Greetings!

I would dearly love to install the Ubuntu OS on my cell phone, but am aware that
there are only certain models which are currently compatible, besides the Aquaris
phones available to purchase (only available in certain countries
http://www.ubuntu.com/phone/devices <http://www.ubuntu.com/phone/devices>).Have
any Lubuntu/Ubuntu users on this group had any experience/success with this? My
current phone is an LG L70 (apparently not compatible with Ubuntu or
Cyanogenmod). Also, please give feedback on experiences with rooting your
phone/workarounds, and what OSs you have had success with.

Apologies for this not being strictly Lubuntu related, but I think the info would be
useful as the subject of "device convergence" is quite topical.Thank you.Steve
