BTW, I have had wyx virus in a friend's laptop's (Windows ME) boot partition. I have tried six or seven ways in the last week or so to clean that virus without success and was now only waiting for the OS cd from owner so that I can re-partition and re-install afresh -- but that will now not be necessary, thanks to Kiggs method (now that you call it that). It worked the first time.

Thanks.

Kiggs,

Your method will not work on NTFS system (NT, 2k, XP). This is what I
did to claen it off a WinNT and Win2k system

- made boot floppy from clean win98
- write protected and booted infected machine off good floppy
- did a fdisk /mbr at A: prompt (warning: Don't do this on a Dual boot
windows - linux pc for obvious reasons)
- restarted machine, see windoze splash screen, ....

I haven't tried it on a dual boot windows (like 2k and XP).
