u might have confused software and hardware raid, i think.

man, this works out of the box for many cards and monitors - u of course 
need the following info at hand to get X to look beautiful:

- card type (important)
- max resolution (important)
- color depth (important)
- refresh rate (important)
- 3D? (not important)
- horizontal and vertical sync ranges (important)

without this info at hand, you may not get the best looking X.

get the latest XFree86. (A driver is also on the ATI website).

normally, the generic/VESA LCD drivers work. i must admit that getting 
your desktop to look cute in SuSE aint easy (as opposed to Mandrake and 
RedHat). It usually gets done though.
