Not true. NANOG is one of the most intimidating mailing lists I have ever subscribed to. The roasting and bashing there cannot compare to the one on this list which I could classify as light bantering back and forth. Todate after 3 years on NANOG I have yet to make even one post. The IETF lists are even worse... However AFNOG is quite friendly and trying to maintain that kind of attitue here would be friendly.
