Whats the logic of doing this? Not every PC/Server/laptop comes with dvds currently. Whynot leave the packages on both cd and dvd and let the customer choose what to purchase depending
on his/her hardware?

They are moving away from the CD to the DVD

Hi all.

Don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed, from SuSE 9.2 and now 9.3 Pro, that there some packages not included on the CD's, but are available on the FTP servers.

For 9.2, I was looking for glib-devel, gtk-devel and SDL-devel, and couldn't find them on the CD's, but found them online.

For 9.3, Exim isn't on the CD's, but is online.

How deep is this problem? What's the rationale. I love SuSE, but sometimes I don't understand what they are up to.

Mark.
