In a keynote, the President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam once said, "The most unfortunate thing is that India still seems to believe in proprietary solutions. In India, open source code software will have to come and stay in a big way for the benefit of our billion people."

Open source is not just a technology issue anymore, and has quickly turned into a humanitarian issue. With the future of our billion plus people depending on the way they learn and identify with information technology, open source can play a pivotal role. Our leaders in the seat of authority understand this fact and that's the reason why everyone, right from our President to our Minister of IT, endorses open source.(Not Uganda)
