The list is the Linux Users Group For Linux Users and all things that relate to Linux I have three things to say:1) As a list dedicated to Opensourse, we should not "Close source" topics 2) Uganda does not have the community sizes to run for each and every individual topic. If we did that we would get one question a year on some topics (e.g. how to format disks in Solaris!) 3) Issues can be related to linux in different ways. For example a person experiencing a memory leak in Firefox for windows and complaining about it could start off a thread (or provide a solution) for Firefox in Linux. 4) The users of this list range from Newbie to "Wishing was a guru". So someone who thinks their slow down of Internet access was Linux related may find out that it is actually CISCO related because of a Tinka post. Learning to correctly undertake "process of elimination" is (i have come to learn) not a gift thrown out of heaven in Terabytes. 5) 80% of any list membership do not post, they just read and learn. So many up an coming Ugandan Linux and "Other OS" techies do not need to join 100 different lists in order to listen and learn from the gurus we have.
My two cents. Kiggs On Mar 3, 2008, at 10:06 AM, Mark Tinka wrote:

Posts that have nothing to do with linux seem to dominate the list.I think it is, to some extent, safe to say this list has transformed into a sort of NOG (Network Operators Group). I could be wrong. One would submit that perhaps setting up a proper NOG list would be the ideal way to go, but with the momentum the LUG has gained over the years, I think it would be more difficult to replicate the same amount of energy on another list (especially as it's the same folk, anyway). Again, I could be wrong.
