ok then,
back to linux and related. I have always wondered just what are the real or
practical lower hardware requirements for using Linux? its RAM needs seem to be
increasing, are pentium ones still in use and for what, considering the
kernel's growth in complexity. what is the recommended hardware requirements
today for Ugandans considering the early pentiums are still very much around?

Just wondering: Is there a place where people who are interested in these
announcements can subscribe? And can you provide that link?
would save yourself a lot of work, not so?

I'm constantly on vendor web sites and dealing directly with
them. Somehow, the information always comes back :-).
Cisco, Juniper, e.t.c., have various technical and marketing
mailing lists you can subscribe to (and blogs too).

Well seems like this is not a linux users list anymore anyway. Posts
that have nothing to do with linux seem to dominate the list.

Is that a problem? What is in a name? I don't think we should open CUG(Cisco
users group) may be we should rename the LUG to Techies Uganda etc

I think it is, to some extent, safe to say this list has
transformed into a sort of NOG (Network Operators Group).
I could be wrong.
One would submit that perhaps setting up a proper NOG list
would be the ideal way to go, but with the momentum the LUG
has gained over the years, I think it would be more
difficult to replicate the same amount of energy on another
list (especially as it's the same folk, anyway).
Again, I could be wrong.
Mark.

are you sure about DDWRT not supporting DLINK? What DLINK do you have, check
the HCL for your DLINK cause as far as i can remember, DDWRT does support DLINK.

Of course, you might discount this possibility, but remember that one in
a million chances happen 99% of the time.
