I installed the sugar interface last week on my desktop, once i discovered
that it is in the main repositories. It is a functional desktop that places
the basic applications in easy to find places. I can see how children can
easily figure the interface out and being working. I don't like the fact
that most of the applications are hidden away from you. i would have
expected more functionality but it is still a work under progress so
hopefully it will get better.

i can see how having to install ubuntu would be a waste for you, from what i
can see you can get to most of the ubuntu applications unless you launch
them from the terminal. hopefully some of the lighter distros will implement
the interface, it would also be great for live cd distros.
