no and yes. Obama got his money from small donations from individuals
(mostly). he raised more than McCain this way.

McCain got his cash (mostly) from corporations/lobbysists and their
employees. Then there is "soft money" given to parties and other orgs
that take sides. The Republicans always have more of these "slush
funds" to go around, so this was to mcCain's advantage.
Sorry if I sound snide, but we shouldn't use this campaign as proof
that the
little man can beat the big man!
It little money vs big money, millions of small donations, vs hundreds
of thousands of larger ones. Little money (and a great organisation
on the ground) beat the "big money".
If anything the "big" man won,
nope, the man with the biggest get out the vote effort/organisation,
(built street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city)
won.
