You're probably right. I was just trying to rebuff the argument that this
proves that Microsoft will be beaten out by OSS. I think it's way too easy
to forget that Microsoft became rich by (among other dirty and shady
practices)
- running the best marketing campaign (see your door to door example)
- receiving lots of small monies rather than large monies (from bundling
MS-DOS with IBM computers)

I have no problem with Obama's fundraising strategies. Just disagree with
the premise of Obama=OSS, McCain=Microsoft.
