If you setup a centos-directory server, you can implement roaming profiles
and group policy objects for your workstations joined to the domain.

this by the way is a replacement for windows PDC. i have deployed about 6 of
these at different sites for work as we transition away from novell
edirectory and windows active directory.

you can sync passwords with a windows domain controller, but i havent tried
it out yet since i have no need for that part just yet.
