The squid wiki has comprehensive documentation on configuring squid -
wiki.squid-cache.org, sendmail pretty much works out of the box
you just need to get it to listen to the correct interface and
configure the networks it should relay for. take a look at
http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/wiki/index.php/Quick_HOWTO_:_Ch21_:_Configuring_Linux_Mail_Servers
for more pointers on sendmail, these should be applicable to suse too.
