Dear all,
Thanks for the advice. I ran testdisk from a parted magic live disk after
a chat with Douglas and the only recovery option it had was for deleted
files while the other was for lost partitions.
I lost the data when i backed it up on a secondary partition on a laptop
and run the laptop's original recovery disks only to discover after the
re/installation that both partitions had been automatically deleted and
re-written. I have been running the laptop on a ubuntu 9.04 live cd to avoid
overwriting the data on the hard drive. Am actually trying to recover it
from drive C which has windows vista on it.
