Hi how come you didn't give us your network setup apart from mentioning
about switches make sure they're not layer 3.
Sec, you forgot to mention about the wireless router/s that do DHCP on your
LAN most companies do have one at least these days :-)
Lastly, why some machines and not all try  isolate them and see the
similarity it will give you the difference which will be the solution  just
a thought....
