They lock down the apps available based on geography. Other than that
apple wants your money.

When I was in the uk I
couldn't download American apps like pandora radio and my banking
app.
I'm hating Apple just now, picked an Airport Express to act as a wifi
repeater, but it seems to want to do its proprietary WDS.
