How to enable a 3G USB modem using kde's network manager (NM). 1) Plug in your modem
2) Right click on the NM icon in your system tray and choose "Manage Connections" 3) Select the tab labelled "Mobile Broadband" 4) Click on "Add" 5) Give your connection a name (e.g. 3G Connection) 6) Under the "Basic" section enter: number: *99# username: user password: user 7) Save. 8) LEFT click on the NM icon in your system tray. Choose "3G Connection" 9) Profit.... NOTE: I've used this for both Warid & Orange USB modems, as well as on a Zain with a Nokia 6300 phone connected using USB. No need to enter the APN. I can click "3G Connection" for any USB connected modem.
