I am surprised to still hear this being said. It was probably true 15
years ago when I first got involved with Free software, but now I think
the opposite is true. Most business software that is Free will have at
least one support company employing developers from the project, and
patches and fixes are applied quickly to the software. Contrast that
with the main proprietary vendors, where you often have to wait for an
upgrade to fix problems.
I may be wrong because I haven't used Microsoft in a very long time, but
I would guess Red Hat gets fixes out quicker than MS does.
