Hi Guys,

Robert-Jan from Secondlife has started a petition against the ban on second
hand computers.

You know, the machines you slap linux on and then they work for another few
years.

We, at mountbatten, started our hosting offering on a 10 year old machine, and
it perfectly fitted our needs for the first few years. New, the machine would
have costed us about 15.000USD.

so, here is the petition.

Subject: [i-network] Revise the bill on importing used electronics in Uganda -
Online Petition
Date: Monday 11 October 2010, 22:04:00
From: "Robert-Jan Nieuwpoort" <[email protected]>
To: "I-Network Uganda" <[email protected]>

  Dear I-Netters,

I have creating an option to sign an petition on-line that can help us
to change the ban of importing used electronics into Uganda. Please use
the following link;

http://www.gopetition.com/petition/39694.html

Please understand that this bill does not protect the environment, but
just eliminates the access to computers for individuals, schools and
institutes who can not afford new computers. If we don't protest against
this ban, we will have a big educational setback in Uganda.

For more clarification about this ban check out this article;

http://www.itnewsafrica.com/?p=6694

Please send this to all the people you know so we get as many people as
possible to sign this petition.

Thanks,

Robert-Jan.
