There are two Orange modems. Type "lsusb" to see which you have.

Cheap:
Bus 001 Device 022: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E220 HSDPA Modem
/ E270 HSDPA/HSUPA Modem

Expensive:
Bus 001 Device 020: ID 12d1:1001 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E620 USB Modem

They should both work fine unde Ubuntu 10.4

Right click on the network manager applet.
-> Edit Connections
-> Mobile Broadband
-> Add
-> Select modem
-> Uganda
-> Orange
-> Ok

Left click on the network manager applet. Select "Orange".
