(Good morning friends,
I have some issues with my laptop (running Ubuntu 10.04).
The mess am in started while i was trying to resize my windows7 partition which was asking for more disk space.

I have since failed to login as root

1. I tried instructions on http://www.debuntu.org/recover-root-password-single-user-mode-and-grub, and got;
/"recordfail
insmod ext2
set root=’(hd0,5)’
search -–no-floppy -–fs-uuid –-set 54a8a14e-c5a8-4adf-b3a2-3c6aeffb7\3cb/
/*linux /boot/vm linuz-2.6.32-24-generic root=UUID=*//54a8a14e-c5a8-4adf-b\3a2-//3c6aeffb73cb //*ro splash quiet splash*
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-24-generic/"

2. I did a boot recovery and was able to change the root passwd. I also succeeded at logging in as root at boot level but later on failed while using the GUI.

I have also realized that at the login screen (GUI),
1. user (user) fails to login but does in the terminal
2. jmuyimba (administrator) logs in with any passwd (am wondering why)
3. m4duser (administrator) logs in at the terminal

Thanks guys and have a very outstanding week!
