A justified question is: Why did they not check to see whether there might
already be some technology in use on the same frequencies, *before* throwing an
obscene amount of money at it?

Light Squared is a company with a lot of promise
Their business model is to provide wireless broad band
Unfortunately, their technology interferes with GPS signals, ( and a few others)

Now, this is a simple problem but tricky

a) The GPS providers can upgrade their systems to avoid the interference
b) The FCC can mandate that GPS providers meet new standards

Option A is not viable, Option B is the most feasible, but it might
take a few leap years

Option c is for them to mimmick what Linux did, to achieve
interoperability with Windows ( I dont mind if i got a few spelling
errors, good enough the spell checker had no remedy)

After burning $5 Billion, this company with so much promise is about
to go down, and yet their breakthrough technology could help several
African countries
