Aren't you two confusing jailbreaking with provider unlocking? Jailbreaking is 
to allow unsigned code to run on the phone (rooting on Android), and provider 
unlocking (dunno the official English term) is so you can use a SIM card from 
another cell operator.

Just want to make sure.
