Check your BIOS first to see if there is a harddisk registered there. You
might try just "listening" closely to the computer. You can usually hear a
harddisk rotating.

Am running Ubuntu 10.04 in my machine. And i tried to install again but i
was not seeing the partitions . and also wen i ran a live ubuntu Cd in my
machine, checking on the Hard disk it was like available space is 0 bytes
{could it be that the hard disk has crushed away}
