If you have a server with Linux on it, you could use it together with a SIM card, a phone or mobile broadband dongle, and the software gammu-smsd to send and receive text messages. I use this approach to forward all my text messages received on my Swedish number to my GMail account when I am abroad, to avoid having to bring my Swedish SIM card with me (which could lead to extra operator charges). I believe one could also use this software for bulk messaging, with some simple coding.
I also might add that while my reply may not be exactly what you were looking for, it at least happens to fit in a Linux mailing list, unlike the original question. :) On 25 April 2012 13:32, Mr. Ssemwogerere Jude T.B < [email protected]> wrote: > Hi Guys, > > I Need a list of Email - SMS gateways for the Phone Operators in Uganda > > most seem to charge you per message which does not make sence for bulk > messages > > Regards > Jude > _______________________________________________ > The Uganda Linux User Group: http://linux.or.ug > > Send messages to this mailing list by addressing e-mails to: > [email protected] > Mailing list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > Mailing list settings: http://kym.net/mailman/listinfo/lug > To unsubscribe: http://kym.net/mailman/options/lug > > The Uganda LUG mailing list is generously hosted by INFOCOM: > http://www.infocom.co.ug/ > > The above comments and data are owned by whoever posted them (including > attachments if any).
