This is cool, but the core issue of security and privacy in the internet really goes beyond.....

For example:
On this very LUG mailing list, just by watching and reading the users' posts, there is basic info you can deduce about the personality and nature of each user. (kind of an inference attack) Armed with an expert system and a military specialist or any other specialist for that matter, and feeding the LUG user info into the expert system, you can draw close to real conclusions about each user. Then that serves as the criteria for teaching the neural net how to identify your desired patterns from numerous data amounts. With more tools like genetic algorithms, intelligent bots, etc, even more precise and predictive info can be retrieved about users. (kinda aggregation)

Now you can imagine, how much can be deduced about us, from info in popular social networks, mail servers, shopping engines, banks, etc. There is some justification that credit card companies are looking for fraud, banks are looking for defaulters, google is organizing internet info, etc, so what the hec?? Is that so bad?? Besides its the software that is doing this, not human beings.

But you can bet what the repercussions and the real nightmare would be with such tools and info in the hands of a present day Bonaparte, or Musolini, or any of the three letter security organizations or governments of this world turned unlawful...

Interesting.

i generally use duckduckgo but any privacy-conscious alternatives are
always welcome.

See links at bottom left of www.duckduckgo.com for an interesting, though
possibly biased discussion on Google's tracking & bubbling.

If you want to be even more private and anonymous take a look at the
TOR project https://www.torproject.org/
