Yes, democracy is far from perfect. It has many drawbacks – one of them
being that many people who vote does not vote because they find the party
politically sound, but because the family has voted on the same party for
decades. One could also say that democracy is flawed in the same way public
opinion is. Some politicians sometimes do things which are not popular,
such as raising taxes, because there is an honest need for it, and that
makes them unpopular. Meanwhile, other politicians do things which are not
apparent for the general idiot on the street, but which a politically
interested minority recognises as detrimental to the nation.

Democracy is far from perfect. But it is the least evil way to rule a
nation.
