Heheh. It reminds me of a protest march I attended some ten years ago. One of our chants translated roughly into "Welfare begins at 10Mbit".

If your on a WiMax or Fibre Connection and your paying for 1Mbit/1Mbit you should be getting 1Mbit in both directions. If your on 3G however you can get 4MB down and 256kbps up, because there is no guarantee on the service. I have seen 1 Mbit upload on Orange but that was a little whilst back. As for getting our act together, I do however agree we need a lot more bandwidth than we are currently putting in to Uganda! The fact that on average my clients are using 1Mbit from say 256kbps 3 years ago is not exactly a massive jump in bw IMHO. Add a zero and now we are talking! Stop ranting. There are many ways around your self-created 'problem'. > There should be > well-known-places or centres that enable such services. why? I usually get (download) data rates north of 4Mbps on MTN's mobile data connection. Never monitored upload though, although I imagine it should not be very different. Why would this not work for you? Assuming an average 3Mbps data rate (which you can get on either orange or mtn data), your file would be down/uploaded in less than 1 hr. _____________________________________________ The Uganda Linux User Group: http://linux.or.ug Send messages to this mailing list by addressing e-mails to: [email protected] Mailing list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Mailing list settings: http://kym.net/mailman/listinfo/lug To unsubscribe: http://kym.net/mailman/options/lug The Uganda LUG mailing list is generously hosted by INFOCOM: http://www.infocom.co.ug/ The above comments and data are owned by whoever posted them (including attachments if any).
