It's much much better now. Hardly notice it in latest heavily-patched opensuse.
But it can be horrible. Had a period when pausing a movie then resuming it would lose audio. It's especially terrible when you have non-pulse enabled software. It's SUPPOSED to pause while another app acquires the sound device, but it doesn't always work, or sometimes works too well. I'd quit a legacy app and be assaulted with a sequence of loud dolphin "beeps" that had been paused in the pulse queue!
