Brian, Does a budget or event guide exist for past events we can use as a guide to host IDLELO?

We just concluded a busy week in Dar es Salaam, evaluating one of the FOSSFA's Projects - ict@innovation (See Pillar A , Pillar B , Pillar C and Pillar D ), and also figuring out the way forward, as GIZ (Funding Partner) call time to their active financial involvement. Over 25 Volunteers from across Africa were present, and it was happy to note that among other things: a) FOSSFA has rallied volunteers who are willing to extend, and maintain this project. b) FOSSFA Council will continue to support the activities of ict@innovation on the African Continent, through its auspices, such as Country Liaisons and Trainers (who were part of ToTs). FOSSFA has also just completed council elections, where registered members were invited to cast their vote online. This October, the newly elected Council will meet, in Accra at AITI-KACE, to elect from among them, an executive, that will oversee activities in the next 2 years, including IDLELO 6 which will be hosted in Nairobi. If you have registered to become a FOSSFA member before, you will recall that you were asked to identify your preferred programme areas. The time has come to begin work in those "Commissions". So Accra will not only elect executives, it will also give responsibility to council members in those project areas. In case you may have forgotten what is on, please see below: Question: Should we add more? Should we remove some? Should we merge some? ===== The priority projects of FOSSFA are in: A. Policy. Training, capacity building and resource centers Government open source resource centers; Source camps; Sustained training for professional groups Roadshows; Support to training and certification centers; Widening and strengthening of Office training Establishment and support to Regional Open Source Training and Resource centers. FOSSFA has grown over the years, and is happy to have partnered with, among others, UNECA, OSIWA, GIZ (formerly as InWENT), ECOWAS, and hundreds of individuals across the African Continent, in the various program areas. I should add, that the bid for IDLELO 7 is now open, and we should consider hosting IDLELO in Uganda. More on this later. We now look forward to partnering with you. -- Brian Ssennoga | FOSS & ICT Consulting COSS | @COSSug | #COSS FOSSFA Country Liaison - Uganda | @fossfa | #FOSSFA Skype: bssennoga | Gtalk - b.ssennoga Blog | Alt.
