Hi Simon, There is no specific budget guide. The host decides how large or small, but generally you are trying to bring in some 50-100 international participants from across the continent, plus the nationals. Travel and accommodation is usually a big-ticket item. Venue costs are also a challenge, b'se you are looking for a place to host a week-long event.
>From the FOSSFA point of view, they are looking for proposals from a host that has; * Government buy in * Have a National network of FOSS actors * Propose a host Institution * Be sure of at least 3 national partners * Capacity to organise a high-level IT conference Regards, Milton On 24/09/12 14:06, Simon Vass wrote: > Brian, > > Does a budget or event guide exist for past events we can use as a guide to > host IDLELO? > > > > Simon Vass > Managing Director > E-Tech Uganda Ltd > > http://www.etech.ug > Tel: +256 (0) 312260620 or (0) 312260621 > email: [email protected] > skype: e-techservicedesk > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Brian Ssennoga" <[email protected]> > To: "Uganda Linux User Group" <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, 24 September, 2012 10:48:08 AM > Subject: [LUG] Update from FOSSFA Council + Programme areas > > > LUG, > > I hope you are all well. > > We just concluded a busy week in Dar es Salaam, evaluating one of the > FOSSFA's Projects - ict@innovation (See Pillar A , Pillar B , Pillar C and > Pillar D ), and also figuring out the way forward, as GIZ (Funding Partner) > call time to their active financial involvement. > > Over 25 Volunteers from across Africa were present, and it was happy to note > that among other things: > a) FOSSFA has rallied volunteers who are willing to extend, and maintain this > project. > b) FOSSFA Council will continue to support the activities of ict@innovation > on the African Continent, through its auspices, such as Country Liaisons and > Trainers (who were part of ToTs). > > FOSSFA has also just completed council elections, where registered members > were invited to cast their vote online.
