Hi,
We have about 15 laptops running (k)ubuntu, all different makes & models.
They all have wifi enabled (eventually)
The reason why my first response was a Google url was that that is really the
best way to solve your problem.
If you run into hardware issues with your model of laptop, the chances are
very very very high, you are not the first. And the chances are pretty high,
someone else already solved these issues and blogged about it.
For your specific model, that guy is called Shodan the Nector and here is his
blogpost

connection-in.html
Best try to get your laptop running with ubuntu: follow his instructions.

Don't listen to that dweeb. Go to Dell's support page for your model. There
you will find the name of the wifi adapter, which will make it easier to fix
your
problem.
