Thanks. The software is to be used for students, staff and parents records,
library records, financial management and should be customizable for some
departments with unconventional structures. I would also like to be able to
use the database for access control or information retrieval with hardware
such as magnetic stripe cards and RFIDs.

I gave Fedena a shot and it's what I am looking for; so I'm gonna have to
learn ruby to develop plugins for customization.

I have personal experience with moodle on http://muele.mak.ac.ug but I find
it limited to the learning experience rather than organization management.
Has anyone extended moodle to perform those functions I mentioned earlier.
