Well yeah, technically there are mobile partners for Linux, but I know
of no one who actually uses them. Why would one, when there's kernel
support for most modems as either virtual serial modems or virtual
Ethernet adapters? I just don't see the benefit. Sure, SMS, but... Who
cares? Why would one pay money to send (maybe, I might add; .ug
telcoms aren't really that reliable) 160 characters to someone, when
one could instead send e-mails of unlimited size, with the ability to
attach files, too, virtually for free (apart from traffic charges, but
come on)? If one really needs the SMS functionality, there's open
source software for that too, such as "gammu" and similar.
