There are plenty of locations all over town where you can hold a meeting.
There are plenty of people who want to buy a coke.

The recipe is quite simple:

- Contact a venue of choice, and plan a date with them
- Contact anyone you think can do a talk (via the list, or not) and make sure
they are available on the same day as the date you booked the venue (yeah)
- Send an invite to the list

That's it.

I believe Ketty Adoch showed up for one of the previous meetings to give a
talk, only to find out the meeting did not happen. Out of courtesy you might
want to crawl on your bare knees (on behalf of the community) and invite her
again. [email protected]

You could consider organising a second speaker, and you are set.

It completely blows me away why there is nobody on this list who can not see
the added value to his/her CV and doing the above steps on a semi-regulary
basis.

Reinier

I'm new around here. What exactly is missing in order to hold a meeting? A
venue? A Samosa donor? Someone with the authority to set a time?
Perhaps one of the innovation hubs in Kampala would offer space.

I am away until mid-September.
I am also tired of organizing events and would love to see someone else step
up :)

LUG,
[Am echoing this because i think it might have been lost in a thread
hijacking]
James from Thoughtworks Uganda has indicated that if we hold our regular
meeting, soon, we would benefit from the presence of Ghanaian Programmer
Raindolf (also winner of last FOSSFA' s Guido Sohne award ).
TWU are also generously coming along side us to fund refreshments (while offer
still lasts) and they have bigger plans for the community.
As always, we offer a venue and avail some wifi (if possible) and hold this
for ourselves.
Am out in Western Uganda nowadays but tha'ts no reason for us to not meet. So
am hoping that our usual generosity will manifest as we give back to ourselves
our monthly community meet up.
Looking forward to yo usual cooperation.
