Thanks Peter , but have to add not just one icon i need to add icons to all
microsoft applications like word , excel , access , power point , publisher ,
note one etc
I need this not just available to all users but they should be able to execute
or open the applications when they click on it .
This is the path to my to my program.
/root/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office12
And this is how i run ms word for instance when am in that path already from
the terminal .
wine WINWORD.EXE
This opens . But i will need the short cut to avoid the typing of this command
through that path . More ideas still welcome.
Besides where to i save and run this script??

Subject: Re: [LUG] How to create Desktop shortcuts for MS office 2007 programs
on the desktop
cd ~/Desktop
ln -s "<PATH TO PROGRAM>" "<NAME OF SHORTCUT>"
To do it for all (new) users.
cd /etc/skel/Desktop
ln -s "<PATH TO PROGRAM>" "<NAME OF SHORTCUT>"
To do it for all existing users.
cd /home
for i in *; do
ln -s "<PATH TO PROGRAM>" "$i/Desktop/<NAME OF SHORTCUT>"
done
Hope that helps
