Hi, You can't give normal users access to root's *.wine* directory.
As far as I know, you can't share a .wine folder between different users, so you're in trouble. Wine removed the "global registry" option which allowed one to do that. You can spend some hours investigating system-wide WINE installations or.... Best advice? Install OpenOffice.
